After a long long break, Global Young Greens newsletter is back. Many things changed during the last period. For example, three new members from the European region got elected in the Steering Committee. Onur Fidangul from Turkey, Jeroni Vergeer from the Netherlands and Antoine Tifine from France. To see all current members of the Steering Committee, please check our website.
However, we didn't sit still. During the past few months, Young Greens mobilised against Climate Change and took part to the largest mobilisation for Climate ever organised, they kept fighting for social justice, gender equality, democracy, protection of the environment, etc... The fight against unfair free trade agreements is a symbol of these fights.
These common goals unite us and will gather us during the next GYG Congress that we plan to organise next July in Istanbul, two years after the Gezi Park Movement gathered millions of Young Turkish Citizens fighting for democracy, social justice and environment.

Send us a photo while sitting on your toilet for our Action Day before the 19th of November. We will publish the best ones, with our article on this issue.

Free trade is not fair trade
On the 11th October the European action day against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) took place. The Global Young Greens support the fight against TTIP but also oppose all the Free Trade Agreements that are currently negotiated in the world and that are based on the same logic of destroying the so-called non-tariff barriers (social and environmental protection laws) in order to increase the corporations’ profits.

World Climate March
In 2013, 23 Million people had to leave their homes because of natural catastrophes. This number is three times more than that of people who become refugees as a result of conflict. Because of climate change, natural catastrophes such as typhoons hurricanes or floods happen more often and more violently every year.
Climate change is real and we can already feel its consequences. As young people, we are the “future generation” politicians have talked about for years, postponing their action against climate change as a result. We are the ones going to face the terrible consequences of climate change.
