Discuss how civic tech can drive impactful societal change

Sign up to attend
Join us this Thursday 14th July for our next Civic Tech Surgery to discuss the opportunities and challenges in using civic tech to encourage people to change and coordinate their behaviour in ways that can cause significant changes in society. If you can't make it on Thursday, find out below how to share your thoughts with us - we'd love to hear from you.

At the Civic Tech Surgery this week, through the lens of climate action, we'll talk about how civic tech can enable people to coordinate action so that it’s greater than the sum of its parts. We’ll look at possible solutions to the challenges faced in doing this, and ways that this work could be applied in different contexts.

Our discussants for this week are Laura Brown, Chief Marketing Officer of ISeeChange, Jacopo Ottaviani, Chief Data Officer at Code for Africa, and Laurence Watson, Head of Technology at Subak.

We expect this session to be of interest to those working in a wide range of areas – whether you’re already working in or interested in the intersection of civic tech and climate action, or interested in learning about methods and tools you could apply to your work in other contexts.

Your insights

Ahead of the event, please feel free to share your thoughts on the topic over on this Padlet board, whether you can attend the Surgery or not. These will then be discussed at the Surgery, and then by the subsequent TICTeC Action Lab (aka working group) that will work together to commission a piece of work to help tackle common challenges regarding accessing quality information for civic tech success.

About TICTeC Labs

TICTeC Civic Tech Surgeries are part of mySociety's TICTeC Labs programme, which aims to address the biggest issues facing the civic tech/digital democracy sector, and enhance the effectiveness and potential impact of civic tech projects.
This programme is made possible thanks to support from the National Endowment for Democracy.
