Ocean Exchange just celebrated it tenth anniversary and we thank our board, sponsors, and others in the ocean community that made ten years possible. In 2021 everything was just about normal again. Our awards process went flawlessly, ending with our in person event in Fort Lauderdale in October. This year we added two additional collegiate awards as well. We welcomed two new board member/sponsors in 2021: Bill Malarkey of Amane Advisors and Chris Mackin of Bleakley Financial through his family foundation. The Claire Friedlander Family Foundation joined as a new sponsor in 2021 as did The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation. We owe special thanks to Nova Southeastern University who provided venue space for us in Fort Lauderdale and who sponsored one of our evening receptions. Dain Dunston of Reservoir LLC remained a steadfast partner in 2021 both in our webcasts and at our event.
In 2021 we continued monthly webcasts, this year with the Marine Technology Society. In our ten years I’ve learned that our community likes to explore new ideas and innovations and is curious about what is around the next corner. Our webcasts helped give a view into the “next new thing” in the Blue Economy. Watch for news about our webcast presence in 2022 after the New Year.
Leveraging our ability to convene leaders in business, academia, government, and finance, we hosted a Summit on the Decarbonization of Ocean Transportation and Goods Movement. We will announce in January an initiative that emanates from those conversations that we believe is a necessary step to advance the decarbonization of ocean shipping and transportation.
We’ve only just closed the books on 2021 and are now planning 2022. Save the dates October 23-25, 2022 in Fort Lauderdale for 2022 Ocean Exchange.
